Silenced

I was fed up of having to remember to turn my phone onto silent when I get to work, and equally importantly, turn it off silent after work. I also wanted a decent night’s sleep without being notified of a new email at 3am, so along came Silenced.

Silenced is a small application that allows you to set up “profiles”, where you can control the phone call volume/vibrate, notifications volume/vibrate, wifi and Bluetooth. You can also set up locations (i.e. work, home etc.), and whenever the phone detects you are in range of that location, it will run the specified profile. Similarly for scheduled events – you can run profiles at certain times on certain days, so I have one early in the weekday mornings, a bit later for weekend mornings, and a night-time one.

The demo version is fully functional with the exception of it not working on Mondays.

    Hi Ed,
today i´ve buyed your app Silenced and now i will test it a while… ;-)

    Thanks for your good work!

Next time i will send you my suggestions to make this app better, e.g. use 24 h time format instead of 12 hours-format.

    Best regards from germany
    Michael

P.S.: Until now my little test reports are not in english (on my website) – sorry ;-)

    Hi,

Thanks for that – more than happy for feedback. 24hr clock would make sense, so will add that to my to do list!

Will use Google translate to check out your review!!

    Thanks,
    Ed

    Hi Ed,

thank you for adding it to your to do list!

Google translate: Oh, yes, that´s an cool idea!
Hope that it is good enough to understand it – otherwise you can ask me via mail or feedback-page on my website (look at Kontakt or Contact on the english version).

    Now my next suggestions:
Please change the colour of the font on the profile selection bar in Locations and Times:
Now it is a light grey bar with a little darker light grey text. :-(
At first time testing i saw no text on the selection bar with my Samsung Galaxy S!
BTW: On that mobile phone the Save-Button is not in view! I couldn´t see it!
Maybe it´s possible to set the two Enable/Disable-selections horizontal instead of vertical?

Now i use Silenced not longer on the Samsung Galaxy S, cause that mobile phone has too much disadvantages.
My first buyed android phone Motorola Milestone has its comeback ;-)
On this device i can see a little bit from the profile selection bar :-)

I think, now you have enough tasks for the moment ;-)

    Best regards
    Michael

Hi like you site. I am trying to do simular. Recently started project to control home sockets and expand that. Managed to control the Maplins sockets on;/off reliably. would like to expand that to home easy as they expand the range. Do you have any code – references that work? I have tried but most code is faulty. trying to read and control the home easy units. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you

    Hi,

I’ve only got the above, which I didn’t think was faulty – what’s not working??

    Cheers,
    Ed
